The snow claws designed on the longitudinal and diagonal grooves of the tyre’s tread blocks ensure exceptional winter grip. The snow claws effectively grip their surface when driving in soft snow and on other soft terrain types, providing high-class grip on snow and ice.

Stable and controlled progress

In varying, versatile SUV use, it is especially important to have the tyre behave in a controlled and logical manner while driving. This is helped by the Groove Lifts on the tread blocks adjacent to the centre rib of the symmetrical tread model and the longitudinal ribs.

This additional support combines the best features of the longitudinally ribbed and arrow-patterned snow tyres. The Groove Lifts also make the tyre behave in an extremely stable and controlled manner on dry roads. The Groove Lifts also prevent small rocks from becoming wedged in the grooves.

Durability and protection for surprising situations

The sidewall compound that is exceptionally durable and puncture-resistant contains extremely strong aramid fibres. The same material is utilised by the aerospace and defence industries. The aramid fibre strengthens the sidewall rubber to withstand external impacts and pressing against the wheel flange.

Meets the Victorian definition of 'snow tyre'

All Nokian snow & winter tyres comply with Victorian Alpine Resorts (Management) Regulations 2020 definition of ‘snow tyre’. That is ‘a tyre whose tread pattern, tread compound and structure are specifically designed to achieve better performance, on a road affected by snow or ice, than that of a normal tyre with regard to its ability to initiate, maintain or stop vehicle motion’.

This means a snow tyre must be a dedicated winter tyre as per the tyre manufacturer’s specifications. By definition normal tyres, highway-terrain tyres, summer tyres, all-terrain tyres, off-road tyres, mud-terrain tyres and M+S tyres do not comply with the regulations.
